FAQ's for Aare boat rental between Thun and Bern

What's on the programme? Boat rental on the Aare!

This is the classic river section of the world-famous "Aareböötle" (Swiss for Aare boat rental) from Thun to Bern. Grab a professional inflatable raft, kayak, SUP, tube or Septipus, for a relaxed trip from Uttigen (Thun) to Bern.

Where does the tour start and end?

Start your Aare boat hire at Uttigen railway station and then gently pull up at Camping Eichholz in Bern. Both start and finish points are well served by public transport and we recommend travelling by train as parking is limited.

Is the tour safe?

Our inflatable boats and kayaks are real adventurers and can handle more than just the Aare. We provide life jackets, dry bags and a briefing to ensure that you and your team are safe and have lots of fun. Of course, water has its pitfalls, so there is a recommended minimum age and you and your fellow passengers should have swimming skills.

How long does the Aare boat trip last?

Our Aare boat trips usually last around 3 hours on the water, but you can spend the whole day on the river if you want, so you'll have plenty of time to enjoy the picturesque views and have a barbecue or picnic along the way. You just need to bring the boat back to our team at the river exit before 18:00.

What should I do if the weather doesn't play ball?

If the weather doesn't meet your expectations, you can rebook free of charge up to 48 hours before the start or cancel for a small fee - it's all very simple. You can find all the details of our cancellation policy here with just one click.

Do you as the organiser cancel for any reason?

Only when nature shows its wild side - think floods or thunderstorms - do we take a break. But a little rain doesn't stop us; the adventure goes on! If you are unsure, please give us a call.

Have you changed your plans? No problem!

Flexibility is our middle name. You can change your booking free of charge up to 48 hours before the big day. Another change? Then a small fee applies. Within 48 hours it gets serious: the full price remains. You can find all information about the rules here.

Are dogs allowed on your boats?

Dogs, cats and even crocodiles unfortunately have to stay ashore - unless they are trained helpers. We love animals, but long boat trips with a bit of water under the keel are not for them. We want to avoid stressful situations for everyone, because a nervous animal on board can quickly cause a commotion!

Who are we anyway?

Since 2007, we have been offering the hire of various water sports equipment on the Aare, from river tubes to SUPs and inflatable boats to our unique 7-armed "Septipus" boats. In 2018, we extended our offer to the lower Aare between Worblaufen and TCS Camping Eymatt, but due to the pandemic and the construction of a new water sports centre in Worblaufen, this was suspended until the reopening in 2024. At the same time, we have launched Rheinschlauchboot.ch, which offers inflatable boats, kayaks and our great service on the Upper Rhine between Stein am Rhein and Schaffhausen.

Is your offer limited to just one river?

Since 2024, we can also be found on the Upper Rhine between Stein am Rhein and Schaffhausen. If you haven't been to this part of Switzerland yet, we can assure you that it's beautiful and the river is absolutely stunning. Visit us here: www.rheinschlauchboot.ch
